About the Artist

Mary Kimball is a true outdoors woman.  Her first trip to the Northwoods of Minnesota was at the tender age of two weeks.  Raised in a family of outdoor enthusiasts, Mary's love for wildlife and nature makes her wood carvings come alive.

Mary started painting decoys as a hobby twenty five years ago.  Over the years this hobby has progressed into a full-time passion, which now includes wood carving, wood burning and painting.

Mary is a member of the Minnesota Woodcarvers Association - Metro Chapter. She has taught several  classes on her feather carving, and is an instructor for the MN Wood Carvers Assoc. Metro Chapter. She has shown her carvings at many wood carving shows. Mary's carvings always generate a lot of interest.

Mary's intricate detailing and great eye for color, makes these feathers not only magnificent, but each is a unique custom masterpiece of exceptional beauty.

Customer testimonials

Mary, Wow!!! Beautiful, just outstanding. On my way to work for some thirty-three years, I passed the shed where Elmer Crowell created his famous decoys and bird carvings. Your incredible "feathers" would put a smile on Elmer's face for sure! I am a long time collector of "sporting collectibles". My passion is the advertising art of Lynn Bogue Hunt, Philip Goodwin, G. Muss Arnold, N.C. Wyeth and many others. (Did I mention I've chased grouse through the woods for some fifty-years?) I'm trying to say, you can carve and paint with the best of them.

Thank you,

Mary,  Thank you so much for the beautiful life-size pheasant tail feather.  It is a fabulous addition that hangs over the portrait of our beloved English Setter, Willow.  My husband was amazed by your intricate, life-like detailing.  You are truly a gifted artist Mary.

Sincerely,
Amy Anderson

I want to let everyone know that Mary Kimball has an extreme talent, her hand painted wood carvings and wood burned pieces, are bar none, some of the finest I've laid eyes on. I have had the pleasure of working a couple of sport shows with Mary, and watching the reactions of people looking at her works is incredible. Most believe that they are looking at REAL feathers. I proudly display her work on a vest I wear to my shop daily. Mary, keep up the fine work you do, it is my pleasure to have an association with you.
